Survive FBT

Autor Maria Ganci
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 23 feb 2016
Are you struggling with Family Based Treatment?

If you have recently begun Family Based Treatment (FBT) or are already in the middle of the journey and wondering how you will make it through, you are not alone. Many parents describe FBT as one of the most emotionally demanding experiences of their lives. Although Family Based Treatment is recognised as the gold standard treatment for adolescent anorexia nervosa, most parents begin the process with little preparation for the challenges they will face.

Written by child and adolescent psychotherapist, Maria Ganci, who worked for more than 20 years in the Specialist Eating Disorders Program at Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital, where Family Based Treatment was implemented under the clinical leadership of Professor Daniel Le Grange, Survive FBT was created in response to the many parents who sought greater guidance in understanding anorexia's powerful hold on their child and managing the emotional and practical challenges of treatment.

This practical guide provides parents with the knowledge, practical strategies and confidence to remain one step ahead of the illness and successfully "see it through" to recovery. Written in clear, practical language, it explains each stage of Family Based Treatment, helping parents understand what to expect, recognise the eating disorder behaviours that can interfere with recovery, and respond with greater confidence and consistency throughout treatment.

Whether you are just beginning Family Based Treatment or finding the process more difficult than you expected, this book offers practical advice, reassurance and hope. It is also widely used by clinicians to support and guide families undertaking Family Based Treatment, providing a practical framework that complements evidence-based treatment.

Recommended by clinicians and eating disorder services both in Australia and internationally, Survive FBT has been translated into multiple languages and has become a trusted resource for families and professionals supporting young people through recovery from anorexia nervosa.
