An invaluable treasure trove and must-read for MFL teachers everywhere! A passion for language teaching shines through on every page, combined with practical and engaging ideas. A real gem!
It is a very comprehensive guide for all teachers of languages and will serve as a go-to resource for delivering well-structured language lessons. It will also help teachers to develop their subject expertise and move into leadership roles.
This is a very readable, comprehensive guide to all things language teaching! I can see it becoming the go-to handbook for all MFL teachers, both new and experienced. The case studies really bring each chapter to life, and showcase effectively how you can apply the ideas and strategies put forward by the authors in the everyday MFL classroom.
This book feels like a trusted colleague, grounded in research yet full of real classroom wisdom. It supports, inspires, and celebrates a whole community of MFL teachers, from the start of their journey all the way to leadership.
A timely and engaging book offering lots of practical, classroom-tested strategies and ideas, compiled by two leading language educators in England. A useful resource for new and experienced teachers alike.
Brimming with practical tips and recent case studies, well-balanced by digestible educational research, this book is a must for both new and experienced MFL teachers alike. I have circled so many ideas which I can implement immediately into my teaching.
A rich, practical guide featuring a stellar cast of UK language educators - full of real classroom stories, case studies, and ideas to inspire every teacher. There's truly something for everyone.
Succeeding as an MFL Teacher is an excellent guide for anyone starting out or in their early stages of language teaching. Packed with practical strategies and clear explanations, it translates key theories like the science of learning and second language acquisition into easy-to-use classroom approaches.
The authors draw on real classroom experience to offer advice on lesson planning, assessment, supporting all learners, and building confidence. With its supportive tone and realistic insights, this book is both reassuring and empowering to support teachers embarking on a career in MFL to thrive in their teaching journey.
This is a great book about education, languages education! Silvia and Jennifer skilfully blend core pedagogy, strategies, case studies and examples in French, German and Spanish throughout this book so that a languages trainee teacher, an experienced teacher, a teacher trainer or languages Ofsted/Estyn inspector can dip in and out of this book and be inspired. I really like the range and depth covered in Succeeding as an MFL teacher across the eleven chapters - there is something for everyone.
My most favourite element of Succeeding as an MFL Teacher is undoubtably the reflective questions at the end of each chapter. They provide time for us the readers to think through our learning and put it into action in our settings to effect purposeful and meaningful change, joy, efficacy or simply to try something different personally or at departmental, or Trust level.
