And it really doesn't matter if the one(s) you've lost are sisters. The same thoughts and feelings will probably befall you whether you've lost a brother, a child, a close friend, your parents, or a family pet. This collection is about what it's like to go on without a loved one. The three movements here are not sequential, but are simultaneously unfolding from parallel perspectives.
Studies In Sisterlessness is a collection of earnest contemplations and laments on the loss of a sister (and three other family members within 5 years). The intensity of the poems builds steadily through Movements One and Two to a climax in Movement Three. It is as much about going on without her as it is about Carla herself.
