Set in 1960's Peckham. Strudwick runs his French polish and German sausage company as a benign proprietor, and his sudden removal from the company creates a vacuum which sets off a chain of events that could result in financial ruin. But the staff unexpectedly rise to the occasion as they fight for their survival. A class of workers used to having their thinking done for them suddenly need to learn new mental skills.
