Civil War veterans from all over the country wrote personal letters to the National Tribune describing their experiences during the war in Charleston. The letters included places such as Fort Sumter, Fort Moultrie, Fort Johnson, Secessionville, The Charleston Jail, Folly Island, Morris Island, The Swamp Angel, Fort Wagner, and many more. This book is written by the veterans themselves, one story at a time, placed in a certain order, to provide the reader with a history of the actual events that occurred in Charleston, South Carolina during the Civil War as the veterans remembered them. These are their stories, their memories, and in their own words. This book also includes previously unpublished photographs.
