Still Moving is a photographic project that reconstructs the final years I spent growing up in Lima before moving to New York. These were formative years—moments of friendship, uncertainty, intimacy, and quiet transformation that shaped how I understand identity and belonging today. Rather than documenting the past directly, the work revisits it through staged scenes, portraits, and fragments of everyday environments. The photographs draw from memory, imagination, and observation, combining constructed situations with moments that feel spontaneous or unresolved. Throughout the work, images often appear in pairs or short sequences that approach the same scene from slightly different perspectives. Still Moving is less a documentary of a specific past than an attempt to reconstruct how memory holds onto it—partly clear, partly imagined, and always slightly in motion.

Direlia Lazo is a Cuban curator and critic born in Havana in 1984 and currently based in Miami. Deeply engaged with contemporary Latin American art, her work has focused on creating dialogues between emerging artists and the broader international art community. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with major institutions and initiatives, including the Havana Biennial, and served as Director of Faena Art in Miami, among many other projects and achievements. Her curatorial practice often explores the intersections of contemporary art, politics, identity, and society, bringing a critical and thoughtful perspective to exhibitions and cultural programming. Through her work, Lazo has become an important voice in shaping conversations around contemporary Latin American art on the international stage.
