Defining the line that divides the wholesome from the harlot, the conspirator from the innocent, and the traitor from the betrayed is a foggy proposition...even more so when such double consciousness resides in the psyche of one girl-turned-woman-too-soon... And the madness that ensued. "Stacey Jones" examines the psychological and seedy sides of untold rites of passages of girls and women all around us, in the body and persona of the title character. From repressed remembrances of incest to unabashed sex, the layers of Stacey Jones' eroticism transfix the senses, while the plaintive honesty engage the sensibilities. A hypnotic blend of poetry and prose, "Stacey Jones" blazes a literary path of forthright experimentation and wordplay, while courageously exposing the other side of the rainbow--that slice a black girl's life that is too often swept under the rug in favor of euphemisms and social branding. There are just as many men who will see themselves in the line of men who saunter through Stacey Jones' life, knowing not what they do, as there are women who will see themselves in Stacey Jones herself.
