Facing bankruptcy and having lost their home, Ikasa Spider and her family are forced to move from their ancestral city home to her grandmother's trailer in a small town. In the swamps and pine barrens of a strangely familiar landscape to those who know Florida well, Ikasa learns to catch lightning, keep fire in a jar, stand up to fear, that parents lie, and that being a good Spider means making mistakes.
