Willem S. Vorster was considered one of the eminent New Testament scholars in South Africa. He was Executive Director of the Research Institute for Theology and Religion at UNISA, Pretoria until his untimely death at age 51 in 1994.
J. Eugene Botha, D.Th. (1990) in New Testament Studies, University of South Africa, is Professor of New Testament at the University of South Africa. He has published on literary aspects and the Gospel of John, social scientific criticism and the New Testament, and contextual hermeneutics. Jesus and the Samaritan Woman: A Speech Act Reading of John 4 (Brill, 1991).
