Soul Stripping: Chamadi Books
Autor Paula Charlesen Limba Engleză Paperback – 15 sep 2026
Charles writes with candour about life on society's margins, chronicling the challenges of being a Black woman in Europe while exposing the prejudices and injustices she encountered along the way. Yet this is not merely a memoir of hardship. It is a story of transformation, tracing how a transient life in clubs and dance halls ultimately led her to find her voice as a writer and social commentator.
Part personal history, part social critique, Soul Stripping is a testament to resilience and the enduring power of storytelling as a means of reclaiming one's place in the world.

Notă biografică
Paula Charles' life story is as compelling as the work she creates. At the age of 21, she left everything familiar behind and moved to Switzerland, beginning a remarkable journey marked by courage, uncertainty, and self-discovery. Her first job in Switzerland was as a go-go dancer, and in those early years, she lived a transient existence, rarely staying in one place for more than two weeks as she carried her life from one destination to the next in suitcases and heavy bags. Yet it was during this period of constant movement that the unexpected began to unfold. A chance conversation with a stranger in a nightclub would prove to be a turning point, setting her on a path she could never have imagined. Drawing from a life rich in experience, resilience, and reinvention, Ms. Charles has gone on to write three books, as well as numerous essays and articles. Her work has appeared in publications including Fabrikzeitung and Du Kulturmagazin, where her unique voice continues to engage and inspire readers. https: //soulstripping.com
