An Alternate History Post-Apocalyptic Western America, 1881. Eighteen years have passed since a comet shattered the sky, its fiery impact ripping North Africa apart and plunging the world into calamity and ruin. The sun is hidden, choked by layers of dust, and the remnants of humanity cling to existence in the wasteland of civilization. Famine is law. Mercy is myth. The barren lands of the South stretch endlessly, a graveyard for the weak and a battleground for the ruthless. In the cold, dusty filth of Memphis, Eudora Becker, daughter of the city's iron-fisted governor, stumbles upon something impossible: crisp, unblemished currency from the Republic of California. The ink is fresh. The paper unmarred. It is wealth beyond reason in a world starved of hope, and in a single, reckless moment, she takes it for herself. What begins as impulse quickly festers into obsession, dragging her into a blood-soaked nightmare. Now on the run for her life, Eudora flees across the scorched and broken frontier, her footsteps dogged by bounty hunters eager to take her prize for themselves. Among them are the legends of this new America: Cornelius "Conny" White, a man with little left to live for; a Bedouin drifter with a silver tongue who calls himself Farhad; a former slave named Nikki Free with vengeance carved into her soul; and Crowkiller, the Comanche exile who leads a double life. Together, they pursue Eudora through the wastes, each driven by secrets deeper than their scars. The chase leads them to Sorrow Draw, a town on the knife-edge of oblivion, where the wicked rule and hope dies in the shadows. There, in the suffocating dark, a truth more monstrous than greed awaits. Tim K Brumbaugh's award-winning debut novel, Sorrow Draw, transforms the American frontier into a nightmarish, post-apocalyptic hellscape. It is a relentless tale of desperation and survival that strips humanity down to its raw, bloodstained core.
