Soren is Lola Raban’s nephew by marriage. Over the last ten years she has photographed him between Martinique and Paris. They both share a fascination for making images, from opposite sides of the camera. Soren, the book, tells a story of the boy, of his characters and of time passing.
Lola Raban’s work is often drawn to the space where the real and the constructed become difficult to tell apart. These photographs are always posed, always deliberate, and yet they carry the weight of something real about Soren. What has grown between him and Lola over the years is hard to name, and this book is the story of that.
