Editat de Anderson Assuah, Simon Mariwah, Kodwo Miezah
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 8 mar 2027
This book provides a comprehensive understanding of solid waste management in Ghana and offers diverse researched perspectives on the sector, along with practical solutions. The book discusses the complexities of the factors affecting solid waste management in Ghana, explores their interconnectedness, and highlights opportunities and initiatives being implemented in the country.
This deep dive is not only useful in solid waste management planning but also bridges theory and practice regarding sustainably managing waste. The first of its kind about solid waste management in Ghana, this book focuses on key areas such as attitudes and behaviours, policy and governance, the formal and informal solid waste sectors, as well as emerging solid waste management technologies and artificial intelligence. It is written with a multidisciplinary lens with contributors from fields such as environmental management, environmental science, geography, engineering, land use planning, education, and development studies. The book employs qualitative, quantitative, and mixed method research approaches to examine, evaluate, and discuss initiatives, existing technologies, policies, and strategies. It highlights gaps in the system and discusses how the country can move from its current solid waste management system towards a circular economy.
This book serves as a handbook for those in the solid waste management space, including professors, students, policymakers, waste entrepreneurs and innovators, in African countries and other developing regions.
