Zoe, Trick, Paul and Julia hike deep into the woods one evening to explore a long-ago-forgotten stretch of the Santa Fe Trail. A storm blows through and they become lost in the rural darkness, unaware that they have been zapped back into the wilderness of the 1840s American frontier. Over the next week the temperatures plummet and the dynamics of their friendships change as they wander the desolate and dangerous landscape shivering on the edge of winter and experience unexplained mysteries never mentioned in their high school textbooks. They gradually come to realize that they are trapped in the past with no way back in this paranormal time travel tale of survival and redemption.
