Sisters

Autor Sophie Harris-Taylor
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 9 noi 2017
-An intimate photographic exploration of sisterhood

Few relationships in life are as deep, intense and complicated as those of sisters. Photographer Sophie Harris-Taylor spent two years photographing and interviewing more than 100 sets of sisters in an effort to understand and capture all that sisterhood means. Accompanied by quotes and texts revealing each set of sisters' individual stories, the viewer is offered a rare glimpse into the histories, complexities and stories behind each unique relationship. Themes of trust, jealousy, memory, loss, petulance and unconditional love are explored both through the texts and the imagery. Shot using natural light and a soft touch that only a sister herself could bring, this work reminds us that through good or bad, love or hate, a sister will always be a sister.

Notă biografică

Sophie Harris-Taylor is a British fine art and portrait photographer. She received both her MA and BA (Hons) in Photography from Kingston University and her work has gone on to be nominated for the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize, The Renaissance Photography Prize and The Young Masters. Harris-Taylor is renowned for her images created exclusively with natural and ambient light sources, which lend her work an unusual softness and depth. She embraces the challenges of working with natural light, liberated by the process of adapting to what she is provided with and to where she is led. Throughout her work, Harris-Taylor continually seeks truth, compelled by a continual sense of beauty in honesty - whatever it may reveal. Her work is in a constant enquiry about relationships, be it the relationship of the subject with themselves or others, or the relationship between herself and the subject. As an emerging artist, Harris-Taylor's work has featured in a number of publications, including I-D Magazine, Huck Magazine and Aesthetica Magazine. Her portrait work is published in titles that include The Sunday Times, Rolling Stone magazine, The Guardian, Nylon and The Evening Standard. Harris-Taylor had her first solo show at a UK gallery in August 2016.
