"It's a coming-of-age story with a busted lip." Jake lives in Covington, a small town in the Appalachian mountains of Virginia, in the shadow of a paper mill, constantly affected by its noxious fumes. His charismatic, athletic, older brother Paul comes home from college for the weekend, forcing Jake into his shadow as well, all while dealing with a busted lip, surprising attention from the girl he's pined for his whole life, and his persistent attraction toward Paul's new girlfriend and her improbable silver eyes.
