She Would Not Bow: Kanwar Gautam Publishing

Kanwar Gautam grew up falling asleep to two kinds of stories. His grandmother told him of ghosts and of witches whose feet turned backward; his mother told him of Meera, who gave up a palace for her devotion, and Kabir, who spoke truth in a weaver's plain words. Between the two, he learned that the oldest stories are never really old.As a teenager he fell in love with his first book, Meera Prem Diwani, and he has been reading the Mahabharata, the Ramayana, and India's spiritual tales ever since. He passed those stories on to his own children at bedtime, and later narrated the lives of Meera, Kabir, and Adi Shankaracharya for Hindi audiences on YouTube. She Would Not Bow is his first novel in English, written for a woman the old stories remembered for her beauty and too often forgot for her courage. He lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he also writes books on investing.
