September 11

Autor William Groneman
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 11 aug 2026

Some days define history. Others define the people who lived through it.

Captain William Groneman III never expected September 11, 2001, to become one of those days. His morning began quietly on the shores of Jones Beach.

Then five words drifting from a nearby radio shattered the calm. A plane had struck the World Trade Center. Within moments, everything changed. For the nation, for New York City, for the Fire Department of the City of New York... and for every person whose life would forever be measured by the events of that day.

As Captain of FDNY Engine 308 in Queens, Groneman knew exactly where he needed to be. Racing back to his firehouse, he joined thousands of firefighters who answered the call without hesitation, stepping into a crisis unlike anything the department had ever faced. In the days and months that followed, he and his fellow firefighters searched for survivors, recovered the fallen, battled fires, answered emergency calls across the city, and endured the unimaginable loss of 343 brothers.

Written with the clarity, humility, and quiet resolve of someone who lived it, September 11 offers an unfiltered account of duty, sacrifice, grief, and resilience from the front lines of one of America's darkest days. Now presented in this 25th Anniversary Edition, Groneman reflects not only on the events themselves but on the memories that continue to echo through the years.

This is one firefighter's story, but it is also a tribute to every first responder, law enforcement officer, military member, construction worker, volunteer, office worker, and citizen whose courage emerged when the world seemed to stand still. Their stories belong to all of us, and their sacrifice must never be forgotten.
