Notă biografică
Barbara Mills, daughter of Carmel, California artist, Louisa Jenkins and Dr. Edward Beach, attended the University of California, Berkeley for several years before embarking on a two-year period of study at the Sorbonne in Paris. She traveled throughout Europe and England after WWII, returned to the USA, and graduated from St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana. She then came home to live in her mother's studio (next to Henry Miller) on Partington Ridge in Big Sur, California. Barbara married local architect, Mark Mills, who had apprenticed with Frank Lloyd Wight and designed many homes on the Monterey Peninsula. It was an exceptionally close marriage. Barbara raised two daughters, Noel and Blase, while helping build several homes for their family. Barbara had a lifelong interest in reading and poetry. She was a devoted member of a poetry group for 50 years and attended her last "Zoom" poetry meeting from home on April 15, 2022. She died on April 29th, 2022. Barbara was a prolific poet, and she left her collection to her daughter Blase, to be published after her death.
