SDGs Under Pressure: Navigating Water, Food, Poverty and Health in the Climate Era

Autor Baniateilang Majaw
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 11 dec 2026
This book explores the critical intersection of climate change and sustainable development, focusing on four key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): eradicating poverty (SDG 1), ending hunger (SDG 2), ensuring good health and well-being (SDG 3), and achieving clean water and sanitation for all (SDG 6). It highlights a defining moment in the world as climate change and environmental crises threaten to reverse decades of progress: billions still live in poverty and hunger, while rapid industrialization and urbanization strain ecosystems, diminishing the well-being derived from nature; climate extremes—floods, droughts, desertification, and biodiversity loss—are intensifying humanitarian crises, forcing migration, and jeopardizing health, food security, and access to clean water.
The volume underlines how this is likely to affect South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa which houses a major chunk of the world’s population.  It also lays out a roadmap to achieve the goals of SDG 1, 2, 3 and 6. The volume will be of interest to scholars and researches of politics, public policy and development studies. It will also be of interest to policymakers and professionals in the development sector.
