Notă biografică

Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has been the Malaysian minister of natural resources and environmental sustainability since December 2023. From 2022 to 2023, he was the minister of natural resources, environment, and climate change. He is also the member of Parliament for Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur, and the vice president of the People's Justice Party (KEADILAN). He began his political career as the Selangor state assemblyman for Seri Setia in 2008. Nik Nazmi served in the constituency for two terms. He was appointed as political secretary to the Selangor Chief Minister Abdul Khalid Ibrahim from 2008 to 2010. In 2013, Nik Nazmi was appointed as the deputy speaker of the Selangor State Assembly, before being appointed as Selangor state EXCO (state minister) for education, science, technology, and human capital development from 2014 to 2018. In 2018, Nik Nazmi won the Setiawangsa parliamentary constituency. As an MP, Nik Nazmi chaired the Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Defence and Home Affairs. In the party, he held the position of communications director, KEADILAN youth leader, PH Coalition youth leader, KEADILAN chief organizing secretary, and KEADILAN vice president. He subsequently defended Setiawangsa in 2022 before being appointed as a cabinet minister. Nik Nazmi co-founded the Mentari Project, an educational programme in a low-cost housing area in 2007, as well as community football club Setiawangsa Rangers FC in 2018. He has written several books including Malaysian Son: A Progressive's Political Journey in the Heart of Southeast Asia and Moving Forward: Malays for the 21st Century. Nik Nazmi studied at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) and read law at King's College London. He lives with his family in Petaling Jaya.
