Her son disappeared through a wormhole. To find him, she may have to cross time herself. Billy is a high-school wrestling star whose life changes in an instant when he falls through a mysterious wormhole and finds himself in 16th century Scotland. Far from home-and centuries from his own time-Billy falls in love with El, a young Scottish woman whose nine-month-old son has been abducted by the Abbot's Guard. Determined to help her, Billy makes a promise that will draw him deeper into a dangerous world he never imagined existed. Back home, Billy's mother, Lu Ann, a 33-year-old widow, high school dropout, working in a bakery and doing her best to raise two kids, begins a search for Billy that sends her into another time -- and into the life of a young woman fighting to survive in 19th-century America where she encounters violence, loss, hypocrisy, and a stolen child of her own. Separated by centuries, mother and son are both fighting for people they love. Billy must find a way to keep his promise and survive in a world that was never meant to be his. Lu Ann must confront a past that holds secrets she never knew-and find the courage to reclaim the life that was taken from her. Two lives. Two centuries. One extraordinary family journey.
