This volume combines the author's various scholarly writings on the Greek poet Sappho, including two major unpublished studies, "The Rosy-Fingered Moon: Imagination and Reality in the Poems of Sappho" and "The Garden of the Graces: The Survival of the Bronze-Age Religious Motifs into the Modern Lyric Poem," as well as a new complete translation of Sappho's poetry.
