Fifteen-year-old Aadi Benoit flees a neglectful, abusive mother and discovers what it means to be part of a real family when her journey brings her to Angel Sanchez, an 8-year-old Spanish-speaking orphan who has become lost in circumstance. After she and Angel cross paths with Rachel Westerbeck, Aadi makes the additional discovery that, when you truly love someone, you will sacrifice everything to keep your loved ones safe and, additionally, have everything to lose.
