Abner Franklin has always been Betsy's first: her first crush, kiss, hookup...and heartbreak. Even though they agreed years ago to keep their non-relationship hidden, Betsy can't help but think of Abner. Especially when Abner's twin sister teases Betsy with glimpses of the small town and the soulful boy she left behind.
Fast-forward ten years and Betsy is in a bind! Her haute couture company needs a new designer and-- to her utter shock-- Abner's name pops up as their potential savior. Last she heard, he was dedicated to the family's Appalachian fiber farm, not designing works of art carried on the shoulders of New York socialites.
Now she's back in the Smokey Mountains on a mission to convince the stone-walling Abner to give up small-town life. No matter how she tries (or what she says) Abner refuses to acknowledge their past or the potential of a future. Roundly dismissed, Betsy has no choice but to rely on dirty tactics, including but not limited to trapping Abner alone in a small mountaintop cabin during a hurricane.
While the storm rages on outside, lightning may just strike twice. And when the winds die down, Abner and Betsy find they will have to confront their past... Or accept they might not have a future at all.
