en Limba Engleză Hardback – 18 aug 2010
Vincent Drago reveals many of the secrets and mysteries of the Eternal City in a simple, straightforward style that will delight Rome-lovers everywhere. Climb the Spanish Steps and walk the Ancient Appian Way. Learn the stories behind Rome's historic neighbourhoods. Admire the magnificent Column of Tranan and the colourful uniforms of the Vatican Swiss Guard. Visit some of the wonders of the Capitoline Museums. The history of this city is filled with interesting curiosities, anecdotes, and legends. Why does Campo de' Fiori have a decidedly anticlerical reputation? How does a design by Michelangelo on an ancient Roman gate ridicule a pope? Why is there a statue of an angel at the top of a pagan emperor's tomb? Why is a foreign-born queen buried in St Peter's Basilica along with dozens of popes? The answers to these questions and many more await you in this book.
