Rising Peace - Volume I

Autor Paul Pham
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 2 apr 2026
Across centuries and continents, where war has scarred humanity, peace still rises. In Rising Peace, Volume I, Deacon Paul H. Pham leads readers on a profound journey through history's darkest conflicts-not to recount the triumph of violence, but to reveal the quiet endurance of the human spirit. From ancient wars to modern crises, these stories uncover a deeper truth: peace is not merely the absence of war, but a reality that can emerge even within it. Blending historical reflection, theological insight, and deeply personal experience-including his survival as a refugee fleeing Vietnam-Deacon Paul offers a compelling vision of hope that is neither naïve nor abstract. Here, hope is a discipline and a vocation, something chosen again and again amid suffering, uncertainty, and division. Drawing from Scripture, the witness of the saints, and the resilience of cultures shaped by hardship, Rising Peace invites readers to encounter a peace rooted in mercy, reconciliation, and the transforming presence of God. It challenges us to move beyond passive longing and to become active participants in the work of healing a fractured world. Accessible yet deeply reflective, this volume speaks to clergy, educators, and lay readers alike-especially those seeking meaning in times of conflict, guidance in spiritual growth, and courage to live their faith more fully. More than a collection of stories, Rising Peace is a summons: to choose hope, to embody mercy, and to discover that even in the midst of suffering, peace continues to rise-quietly, persistently-within the human heart. Tolle, lege-take up and read. And let this "diamond of wisdom" draw you toward the peace that only God can give.

Notă biografică

Deacon Paul H. Pham is a permanent deacon of the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon-a pastoral minister, author, and entrepreneur whose life spans continents, cultures, and callings. He holds a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from the University of Portland and Gonzaga University, graduating with honors as one of the inaugural recipients of the Moreau Fellowship. Formed under respected theologians, including Rev. H. Richard Rutherford, he developed a theological vision that brings together disciplined scholarship and the lived realities of pastoral ministry.Over the years, Deacon Pham has served the Church in a wide range of roles-as deacon, Director of Vietnamese Ministry, Director of Religious Education, and catechist-accompanying communities in worship, formation, and care. His service has also extended to the broader mission of the Church through his work with Catholic Charities, standing alongside the poor and the vulnerable. Before answering the call to ordained ministry, he built a distinguished career in engineering and leadership within the high-tech industry, later becoming a business owner and entrepreneur. In every chapter of his life, a single thread remains: a commitment to serve, to build, and to restore.Yet it is his personal journey that most deeply shapes his voice. As a young man fleeing Vietnam by boat, he endured piracy, near drowning, and the uncertainty of the open sea before finding refuge. From those depths emerged not bitterness, but a hard-won, enduring hope-one that continues to guide his life and ministry.Through the Rising Peace series, he weaves together Scripture, history, theology, and personal experience to explore a timeless question: Where does true peace come from? His writings trace the search for peace from the Bible to the conflicts of the modern world, revealing that authentic peace ultimately finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.
