Will Jenson was the first rider sent into the mountains by Art Pendragon, owner of the great Keystone Ranch, to investigate problems the homesteaders and ranchers were having. Will, however, was confronted by the silent giant known as the Guardian, whose job it is to keep trespassers away from the hidden valley. Disarmed and on foot, Will finally made it back to Keystone physically and mentally disabled by his ordeal. Now one-eyed Kyle Owens is being sent on the same quest, forewarned against what Will was able to remember. He too will meet the Guardian.
