RF and Microwave Design: Circuits, Devices, and Systems

Autor Subal Kar
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 5 sep 2026
This book deals with the design of circuits, devices, and systems at RF (radio frequency) and microwave frequencies using both the analytical technique and also the EDA (electronic design automation) software tools. EDA-based design technique is now used extensively that helps to translate the optimally designed structures directly to actual fabrication.
Salient features of the book:
  • Fundamentals of RF and microwave devices and circuits have been covered in a concise manner in order to help the students and design engineers to refresh and recapitulate some of the basic concepts which is helpful from a designer’s point of view.
  • Design of RF matching circuit with stub matching technique has been provided with analytical design approach supplemented by the design using Smith chart. Also, RF/microwave filter basics have been discussed along with the analytical design technique and also with the EDA simulation tool-based design of low-pass, band-pass, and band-stop filters. The design of recently emerging metamaterial-inspired filter has also been included.
  • Basic concepts of RF/microwave oscillator and amplifier have been discussed together with the design of IMPATT oscillator and varactor-tuned VCO, low-noise amplifier and power amplifier design using EDA software tool.
  • Microwave power combiner and microwave mixer design has been given using EDA simulation tool. Also, a brief discussion regarding RF/microwave antennas has been given with design examples of conventional and metamaterial-inspired microstrip patch antenna.
  • RF/microwave system design concepts have been covered concisely which is required by the students and design engineers to understand the system performance along with some rudimentary design of RF/microwave communication and radar system using EDA simulation tool has also been included.
It is primarily written for senior undergraduates, graduate students, including academic researchers and professionals engaged in electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, RF and microwave design, nanoelectronics, and physics studies.
