A world-renown trauma surgeon/Pullitzer prize winning jounalist on a humanitarian mission in the wilds of Iran is taken prisoner and nearly beheaded and behanded. He excapes after four years and returns physically and emotrionally scared, but in the desire to forget it all and retire to the wilderness, he meets a beautiful woman with scars of her own. They set off on an unlikely journey to Mexico, where through love and "letting life happen" they find their own new world and growth and happiness neither of them had previously thought possible.
