Queen! Icon! Legend!
Autor DJ Louie XIVen Limba Engleză Hardback – 15 iul 2027
Why do so many gay men worship divas?
Part cultural history, part social commentary, and part celebration, Queen! Icon! Legend! traces the rise of the “gay icon” through decades of music, film, fashion, nightlife, politics, and fandom. From Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand to Cher, Madonna, through Chappell Roan, these women became more than entertainers—they became symbols of survival, reinvention, glamour, heartbreak, defiance, and freedom.
Through sharp analysis and entertaining storytelling, Queen! Icon! Legend! examines:
- Why gay male audiences historically connected with powerful yet vulnerable female stars
- How divas became coded symbols of identity and belonging during eras of repression
- The role of drag culture, disco, Broadway, Hollywood, and nightlife in shaping diva worship
- The psychology of camp, performance, transformation, and spectacle
- How fandom became community, resistance, and self-expression
- Why modern stan culture owes so much to queer audiences
