A stronghold is defined as a fort or fortress, a structure built to protect something, keep something captive or prevent someone from entering and taking something away. Often times things happen to us such as abuse of any kind, rejection by someone close to us, an injustice, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, all these can cause a stronghold to be built up and cause us to be "held captive."
