Psychrophilic Microbiome: Diversity, Adaptation Strategies, and Biotechnological Potential

Editat de Burhan Hamid, Riyazali Sayyed
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 23 iun 2026
Microorganisms form the very foundation of life on Earth. Without them, other living beings could not have existed or evolved. These tiny but powerful forms of life are found everywhere. They thrive in conditions where most other organisms cannot survive.
This book explores one fascinating group of such microorganisms known as extremophiles—organisms that flourish in extreme environments. Among them are the psychrophiles, or cold-loving microbes, which can live and function in freezing conditions. Their remarkable ability to survive in such cold environments has opened new doors for scientific discovery and innovation. Psychrophiles produce special cold-active enzymes called psychrozymes, which remain efficient even at very low temperatures. These enzymes have exciting applications in biotechnology, environmental cleanup, and sustainable waste management.
Through this book, readers will gain a deeper understanding of the psychrophilic microbiomeits diversity, how it adapts to the cold, and how its unique properties can be harnessed for human benefit. It presents clear explanations, authentic data, and the latest research on how these extraordinary microorganisms turn freezing temperatures into opportunities for life and innovation. It covers issues such as cold adaptation by cryophiles and adaptation strategies of cryophiles with authentic data.
