Sebastian Knell examines the widely-discussed theory of language and concepts developed by the American philosopher Robert B. Brandom. In his study, Knell takes critical issue with Brandom's argument that mental states (e.g. beliefs) are bound to linguistic ability. This is the first time that such a detailed reconstruction of these thoughts has been published in German. Thus the book is also aimed at those readers seeking general information about Brandom's theory.
