Prophets and Profits: Managerialism and the Restructuring of Jewish Schools in South Africa

This landmark study focuses on the dilemmas facing the Jewish community in South Africa as it struggles to redefine its identity in light of the sweeping global forces of neo-liberalism and fundamentalism. Two divergent, yet connected, tendencies in current educational transformation are examined: the application of managerial approaches to school managment and the resurgence of ethnic and religious communities in search of their identity.
