This book critically examines the relationship between prophetic practices in the Bible and contemporary prophetism in African Christianity. Pentecostalism continues to evolve across Africa with its beliefs and practices mimicking the older and well-established Christian denominations, along with the emergence of newer versions of prophetism or neo-prophetism. The contributions analyse the theological underpinnings of Pentecostal prophetism and evaluate prophets' claims that their practices align with biblical precedents. With careful exegesis of relevant biblical passages, the book considers the degree to which modern prophetic practices comply with biblical stipulations.
