What if your entire existence could be altered with a keystroke? In the shadowed metropolis of New York, 2038, truth itself has become a luxury few can afford. The mega corporation Specter doesn't merely silence enemies, it rewrites their very existence until even their closest allies forget they ever lived.
Monica Reyes, once a corporate investigator with an impeccable record, awakens to discover her identity has been systematically erased. Her bank accounts, employment records, and even her apartment now belong to someone else. In a world where digital existence defines reality, she has become a ghost, hunted by forces that can manipulate memory itself.
Her desperate search for answers leads to Alex Carter, a former Specter operative haunted by the atrocities committed by the organization he once served. Together, they uncover Project Obsidian, a terrifying technology capable of rewriting not just data, but memory, history, and reality itself. As they delve deeper, they realize Monica's erasure was merely the first step in Specter's grand design to control the very fabric of human consciousness.
On the run through New York's augmented streets, Monica and Alex navigate a treacherous landscape where appearances shift with each digital overlay. They assemble a ragtag group of resistance hackers, each with their own vendettas against Specter, while they're pursued by the deadly efficient Natalie Cross, a double agent whose loyalties remain frighteningly unclear.
With every revelation, the stakes grow more personal. Alex must confront whether redemption is possible for a man who helped build the system he now fights to destroy. Monica grapples with an even more terrifying question: if her memories can be manipulated, how can she trust her own mind? As Specter's final Rewrite Protocol threatens to permanently alter humanity's perception of truth, they face the ultimate dilemma, is exposing the truth worth sacrificing their own existence?
