The novel is contemporaneous with recent Australian political history: its plot is embellished with fact from the past and an infusion of fiction to produce a work popularly known as faction. Each of life's events, no matter how seemingly insignificant, is a result of our past and consequently, unless we begin to modify our corrupt present, our future is bleak.
