Douglas A. Vakoch is president of METI International, a scientific organization dedicated to Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence (METI), a multigenerational research transmitting radio signals to nearby stars. Many of his ecocritical books take ecofeminist approaches, such as The Routledge Handbook of Ecofeminism and Literature (2023), Indian Feminist Ecocriticism (2022), Ecofeminist Science Fiction: International Perspectives on Gender, Ecology, and Literature (2021), Literature and Ecofeminism: Intersectional and International Voices (2018), and Feminist Ecocriticism: Environment, Women, and Literature (2012). Vakoch is general editor of three scholarly book series: Ecocritical Theory and Practice, Environment and Society, and Critical Plant Studies.
