Valerie's poodle loves to chase squirrels, her brother loves to chase girls, and Valerie finds herself chasing after Dan Bright, the new guy at school, who apparently only has eyes for Gloria Tidwell, a gorgeous teen-age model. Dan joins the dog training class to be near Valerie, he says, but this doesn't make sense to her when he ignores her at school. What is the relationship between Gloria and Dan? And why does he appear to be interested in Valerie while at the same time shadowing Gloria everywhere? Will dog training class teach Valerie something about boys as well as manners for her dog? As the city dog show approaches Valerie decides to concentrate on her dog and not on Dan Bright, but a turn of events show her that you can love people as well as your dog.
