When they read in a newspaper that a ship, Poldie, is due in port shortly, Grayd and Whittaker decide to take their pigs through the bush to sell them. Set in the Australian outback, some time in the nineteenth century, Poldie's Berth relates some of the hardships and challenges faced by the early settlers living in a harsh landscape.
