Physics to Electronics and Photonics

Dr. P.K. Basu worked from 1971 to 2011 in Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta (IRPE-CU). He then worked successively as UGC BSR faculty fellow and visiting professors at IIT Kharagpur, India, and National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan. He did research in physics of Semiconductors and nanostructures and electronic and photonic devices. He authored more than 150 journal papers, 3 book chapters, and 4 books. He visited Germany as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow and worked as visiting professor in McMaster University, Canada, several times, in TIFR, India, as well as in UK under INSA-Royal Society exchange program. He is now engaged in collaborative research in semiconductors with faculties of IRPE-CU and NIT Delhi, and continues his work on history of science and technology.

Dr. Bratati Mukhopadhyay is currently an Associate Professor in IRPE-CU and has been teaching semiconductor physics, advanced semiconductor devices, quantum theory of solids, and electronic devices since 2008. Her research interests focus on semiconductor device physics, nanoelectronics, optoelectronics, nanophotonics, and quantum-well-based electronic and photonic devices. She has authored about 50 research papers in reputed international journals, co-authored two books, contributed a book chapter, and delivered several invited lectures at national and international forums.
