The adventure comes from building the biggest model airplanes Peter has ever built. The mystery comes from the nefarious plan of a band of terrorists. Peter Monocot is a 12-year-old whose military pilot father taught him how to build model airplanes. His father's death in an Air Force jet crash left Peter's Uncle Jim as the "man of the family," although Peter's mother, Estelle, wields the real power in the household. Peter and his uncle find themselves entangled in the plot that has layers of intrigue and mystery, which they cannot untangle. All they know is that they will be well paid for building and flying two model airplanes.
