Persia's Shadow is a sweeping, deeply researched exploration of one of the most consequential relationships in biblical history and modern geopolitics: the long, complex, and often prophetic connection between Israel and Persia-known today as Iran. Spanning more than three thousand years, this book traces the story from Elam in Genesis to the nuclear standoff of the present age, revealing how Persia's influence appears at every major hinge point of Scripture and continues to shape the Middle East today.
From the rise of the Achaemenid Empire, the decree of Cyrus, and the Persian court of Daniel and Esther, to the Safavid conversion to Shia Islam, the 1979 revolution, and the modern Axis of Resistance, Donald Myers guides readers through the historical, theological, and geopolitical forces that define the region. With the precision of a historian and the clarity of a crisis chaplain, he shows how ancient patterns reappear in contemporary conflicts-missile exchanges, proxy militias, cyber warfare, and the escalating confrontation between Israel and Iran.
The book also examines the prophetic geography surrounding Israel: Ezekiel's northern coalition, Psalm 83's inner ring, and Revelation's kings of the East. Myers presents Islamic and Christian eschatology side-by-side, explaining the Mahdi, the Antichrist, the seven-year reign, and the structural parallels often cited between the two traditions. He handles these subjects with scholarly caution, pastoral responsibility, and a commitment to clarity over sensationalism.
Readers will discover how Jewish and Christian communities lived across Persia and the Near East for centuries, how Scripture frames Persia as both instrument and adversary, and why Iran's modern ambitions matter for understanding the future of the region. The book closes with the Covenant of Najran, the Qur'an's relationship to earlier Scripture, and a set of appendices designed for study groups, pastors, teachers, and serious students of prophecy.
Persia's Shadow is not a prediction-it is a map. It equips readers to understand the past, interpret the present, and discern the future with biblical grounding, historical accuracy, and geopolitical realism. For anyone seeking to make sense of Israel, Iran, and the accelerating events of the Middle East, this book offers a comprehensive, balanced, and compelling guide to the story unfolding before our eyes.
