Josie was the best young sculptor of her class at UC Berkeley. Even the seniors talked about her. She had a son by one of them. The boy was precious to her, and when she lost him, she lost her way. In grief, and guilt, she wondered eastward until she finally found the bottom of the pit, where the real lizards have limited choices.
