Like many Pedro Pans, he arrived alone, leaving behind his parents, his homeland, and the life he knew. The experience would shape not only his future, but his understanding of identity, resilience, and the meaning of home. Today, Mario is recognized as one of the world's leading media designers, editors, and consultants. Over a career spanning more than five decades, he has advised hundreds of publications in more than 120 countries, helping transform some of the most influential newspapers, magazines, and digital media organizations in the world. He is the founder of García Media, an adjunct professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, and the author of numerous books on journalism, design, leadership, and innovation.
