This book contains a selection of high quality papers, discussing the state-of-the-art research in particle science and technology, presented at the UK-China International Particle Technology Forum IV held at Shanghai, China in December 2013. It is intended to integrate cross-disciplinary perspectives of particle science to provide an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals of particle systems. The contributions in the book are classified into six topics: synthesis and crystallisation, characterisation and measurement across length scales, multi-scale modelling and simulation, processing and handling of particulate systems, nano-particle technology and particle mechanics.
