Pahaquarra and Scouting Memories, Volume 1 If you have ever attended a summer camp you should read this book about a scout's first summer experiences and then as a camp leader including camping thru a devastating East Coast hurricane. Colorful descriptions, many original photographs and newspaper articles describe the full history of the camp. Camp Pahaquarra abruptly closed in 1972. The structures of the 1,000-acre camp were quickly reduced to rubble and only a few foundations remain today. During the camp's forty-six year lifetime an astounding number of boys, over 100,000, experienced a camp program described by many as "informative and influential times" in their development. As young adult leaders many of the staff served as role models without recognizing their full influence on the campers. The experiences described are not unique to any one camp, public or private. Reading this book may bring back joyful memories of your own summer camp experiences. Many memories and friendships were formed that have lasted a lifetime.
