Within twenty four days, the German military assembled overwhelming combat power that decimated an enemy army over a million strong in a decisive victory with extremely low casualties. Hitler was happy with the twelve day victory because it secured his strategic flank, protected the Romanian oil fields, and delayed his invasion of Russia only a few weeks.
