Outside the Wire
Autor Ron Pennicken Limba Engleză Paperback – 3 apr 2009
Politics and War are strange bed fellows. The Department Of Defense, for many different reasons elected to contract out certain job duties that are essential in support of military operations. Movement of supplies and equipment is a major priority in a war, and in this war seventy percent of the injuries or fatalities come from roadside bombs called, I.E.D.'s. Maybe, one might consider the collateral damage of such catastrophic injuries resulting from I.E.D. activity in Iraq. Civilian injuries or deaths are not included in the body count of military statistics, or negative political fall out. So to reduce these negative statistics, why not contract this job to civilian contractors, makes sense doesn't it.
This book describes the journey of these independent contractors and identifies their role in this war against terror. Of course, each one has a different reason for accepting the job, most would say, money. For others, it would be the patriotic thing, and then for a few, the religious aspect that draws them like a magnet to this place once called the "Cradle of Civilization" or in Biblical days known as "Babylon."
